Mercer is a perfect dark material, thick but smooth,ultra soft and flexible as thin cotton. The white and dark threads make it look slightly shiny even tho' it's not. It looks as good as in the pics.My normal waist size is 32. But the 7FAM jeans that I own are apparently vanity sized so 32" waist really is a little on the looser side for me but still fine. I probably would normally get a 31".
